On days like this,
I wish I were prettier
and didn't have the ugly
thrown back in my face.

On days like this,
I wish I were nicer
and could hold my tongue
with a hot coal.

On days like this,
I wish love poured out
instead of selfishness
that poisons good things

On days like this,
I wish I didn't have to know
someone else is right there
Where I wish I could be.

On days like this,
I wish that music was tangible
And could wrap its arms
around me like a blanket.

On days like this,
I wish I could quit
to run away like I used to
but God won't let me

On days like this,
I wish I was stronger, humbler
prettier, more worthy and gentler.
Instead I'm weak, arrogant,
Ugly, undeserving, and slipshod.
