Thinking on These Things

Philippians 4:8 - a great verse. Exhorts and reminds you to keep a positive mindset, keep a focus on things that will be good for the soul, things that will honor God, obviously. Just in case you don't know the verse I speak of:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.


Oh those are good words. And today, I choose to think on something that is completely Philippians 4:8 thought worthy.

BACON!*

Seriously. What did you think I was going to say?



It's Yummilicious. For real. Just for arguments' sake, let's do a bit of a breakdown to help you understand how precisely Bacon passes the "Philippians 4:8" test.

Whatever is True:
Here's what's true -- Bacon is tasty yumminess. And I'm not ashamed that I think on this frequently. Also it is true that Bacon makes nearly everything better. In fact, some friends and I have a sneaking suspicion that Bacon might even make Ice Cream better. True story.

Whatever is noble:
In my humble opinion (or not so humble...whatever), Bacon is the food of the noblest people on the planet. when I discover someone has mad love for bacon, I kind of respect them a little more. Also, meat used to be an earmark of the the noble classes, so why not Bacon? Yes, I think Bacon is all about nobility.

Whatever is right:
Bacon is right. Oh so deliciously right. Besides, if bacon is wrong, then, baby I don't want to be right.

Whatever is pure:
Pure awesomeness? Yes, please. That would be bacon and it therefore it passes this realm of the P. 4:8-test. OH yeah. Purely awesome - that's what bacon is.

Whatever is lovely:
Have you ever seen a steak wrapped in bacon? Or perhaps that glorious crispiness that lands on your plate? That is some kind of lovely that can only be described by words that fail me at this moment. Also, let us not forget the beautiful loveliness of the melty crunchiness of bacon as it hits your mouth in flavor explosions.

Whatever is admirable:
Personally, I admire anyone who can take bacon and make it even more awesome than it already is. I mean, Shrimp wrapped bacon? Whoever did that...I admire you. Steak wrapped Shrimp? I admire you. Bacon in cornbread? duh. Admiration of the most vociferous kind. Broccoli cooked in Bacon? It's a vegetable that has been infused with awesome - yes, I admire even you.

If anything is excellent or praiseworthy ...
Have I not made my point already? Bacon is 100% excellent and therefore by very nature praise worthy, as I have praised the wonder of bacon already this morning.

Think on these things:
Dang. Now I want some bacon. And it's all I can think about...
Don't lie, you are thinking of and craving a big juicy slice of bacon too...
